Germany has recovered well from the international turbulence of the economic and financial crisis and at the moment is showing the highest economic growth figures in Europe. The German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) is anticipating a 1.1 per cent increase in growth for the second quarter over the preceding quarter. According to the monthly DIW Economic Barometer published in Berlin at the end of July 2010 “This is a peak value in the euro area”.

In this edition on “Economy and Innovation” the magazine “.de – Magazin Deutschland” takes a closer look at this upswing with informative background reports, analyses and interviews. What drives the German economy? Which ideas are young entrepreneurs using to propel their projects? What role do innovations play? What characterizes “Made in Germany”?

A report introduces the founder generation 2.0 with entrepreneurs who have successfully launched a business idea on the market. The highly acclaimed business journalist Ursula Weidenfeld describes a fresh trend in German companies: a new generation of excellently qualified women is increasingly entering the boards of directors and top-levels management. This edition’s focus also includes the success story of the chocolate producer Ritter Sport as well as interviews with German and international experts on the topic of “innovation” and the question “What’s so special about products from Germany?”

These and more reports surrounding “Economy and Innovation” can be read online in the current edition of “.de – Magazin Deutschland” at www.magazin-deutschland.de.
